As a Software Development Manager (SDM) in S3, you get to deliver these capabilities and delight our customers through teams of talented engineers and leaders.As a SDM in the S3 Tachyon organization, you will define, plan and execute on deliverables that drive game changing improvements in how we launch new features automatically. We are constantly expanding our features and global footprint with new AWS regions. S3 is available in over 26 AWS regions around the world today and announced plans for eight more. You will interface daily with managers, engineers, and senior leadership within S3 and across AWS. You will be a key change agent to improve agility throughout the organization.Key job responsibilitiesAs the right candidate, you should be a self-starter with a bias towards independent problem solving. Clear communication and prioritization will be important as you plan, design, and deliver the best experiences. Your passion for the potential of using technology to improve people’s lives, and your experience leading complex technology projects will help you make strong business and technical judgments. You will be defining the technical vision, influence the product strategy and lead a team of passionate engineers.You will:Provide technical leadership and contributions to accelerate S3 delivery of new features.

Determine and drive engineering best practices across all of S3 and AWS.

Identify, track and resolve technical issues.

Present well-reasoned and data-driven solution proposals in both verbal and written form to gain support, prioritize your recommendations on the roadmaps, and deliver results.

Communicate clearly and concisely with executives, customers, business and technology teams.

Build a solution to track and verify dependencies and deliverables, and launching and coordinating new initiatives to improve our agility and time-to-market.

Experience partnering with product OR program management teams

3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers

3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

3+ years of experience owning 24x7x365 service operationsThis position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must attain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements.Upon application you will be asked qualifying questions that will be used only in relation to the US Government Security Clearance required for this role.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSA leadership position in a team delivering solutions at scale.

Masters or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant software development and engineering management experience.
