The NASA Wallops Flight Facility team is looking for a dedicated software engineer that will perform a variety of software engineering tasks in support of NASA’s TDRSS ground-based engineering support programs. The position will look for an engineer that can assist in software development, software troubleshooting and code refinement, and database management. The successful applicant will require the following:

Minimum requirements:

1. A bachelor’s level degree from an accredited college/university in one of:

Computing/computer science/computer engineering/cybersecurity

Bachelor's level accreted degrees in other engineering disciplines and/or physical science

will be considered with sufficient additional computing experience.

2. Two years programming experience in: C/C

3. Software development experience in at least one of Unix/Linux and/or Microsoft Windows environments.

Additional credence will be given to candidates who have software development experience in both.

Preferred experience (in addition to above):

1. Additional software development experience in one or more additional scientific/engineering

programming languages to include Python, FORTRAN, PERL, IDL

2. Experience with one or more database systems: Oracle, Ingres/Postgres, SQL.

3. Experience with industry standard tools such as: GIT, Wiki, JIRA.

(Or other repository/workflow/documentation systems.)

4. Experience with signal processing, hardware/software interface and control systems.

5. Experience with networking and cybersecurity.

6. Experience working in the aerospace/spaceflight area and/or the NASA/US Government environment.

7. Ability to work remotely. Some travel required.

10% travel for a person resident in the Wallops Island area.

For candidates resident outside the Wallops Island area routine travel to Wallops Flight Facility is expected.
