We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team with a solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals. This job involves designing and maintaining big data web & engineering solutions capable of running efficiently and robustly at petabyte scale.Key Activities:- Develop forward looking solutions that can creatively utilize data assets while being fault tolerant
- Leveraging best practices in extensible and reusable components to allow rapid development
- Collaborate with DevOps, Release Management, Research and Operations teams
- Coordinate with external stakeholders to deliver on product requirements
- 2 - 5 years application development experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in developing applications in professional environment
- 2+ years developing software using Java in Linux environment
- 2+ years Hadoop, Pig, Spark expertise. Scala is a plus
- 2+ years linux, shell scripting
- 1+ years web API development
- 1+ years SQL
- Comfortable with a variety of java build systems including gradle and maven
- Ability to understand & improve enterprise software apps while factoring in overall design goals.
- Knack for finding the problem at a high level and drilling down to the details to solve
- Able to collaborate across multiple teams
- Experience developing software in multi-processing environments (Ex: Hadoop, GRID, MPI) and/or multi-threaded programming
- Able to self-motivated and work independently
- Willingness to learn and become an expert in assigned area
- Able to seek and provide constructive feedback
- Able to research new tool methods and techniques to improve functionality and enhance productivity
