Job Title: Software Systems Applications Engineer (Linux)

Location: Vienna, VA 22180

Duration: Full time

Software Systems Applications Engineer
  • Perform daily system checks and reviews system logs to ensure optimal performance of hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
  • Create and maintain the virtual environments used by Development.
  • Maintain the Linux production environment for unclassified and classified networks.
  • Test and deploy new operating systems and Security patches.
  • Troubleshoot escalated tickets.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot external application connections.
  • Assist with the installation of new and/or rebuild servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.

Minimum Education & Experience
  • Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Management Sciences, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related disciplines with two years of relevant experience in system architecture for enterprise-level systems; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Management Sciences, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related disciplines with four years of relevant experience in system architecture for enterprise-level systems; OR
  • Associate degree in Business, Engineering, Management Sciences, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related disciplines with six years of relevant experience in system architecture for enterprise-level systems; OR Eight years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a Tier 2/3 Operational environment working on production systems and software including NetApp, JBoss, Oracle, NoSQL, SQL, VMWare, Windows 7, MS Server 2008 and 2012, System Center Configuration Manager, Active Directory, SharePoint and the entire Microsoft Office suite.
