Job Summary: The Emergency Services Program in the Waldron College of Health and Human Services at Radford University invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track Teaching and Research Faculty position beginning August 2024.This faculty position is part of a vibrant, growing department within an interprofessional health sciences learning site, Radford University Carilion ( RUC ), located in downtown Roanoke, Virginia, in the city’s Innovation Corridor. RUC is devoted to offering a rigorous real-world learning experience to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in the health sciences. This position will be able to teach within both the online Degree Completion and Traditional Emergency Services Paramedic/Critical Care tracks.Faculty responsibilities include:Teaching: Engages in teaching activities according to classroom, laboratory, and field expertise. Participates in developing, evaluating, and modifying curriculum as appropriate to meet professional and accreditation standards. Must be able to teach all courses associated with the latest National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards iteration. Assesses the accomplishments of students regularly and provides progress reports as required.Advising: Serves as an academic advisor for program students. Maintains current and accurate advising records. Refers students to appropriate resources as necessary.Professional Competence: Maintains professional competence through continuing education and professional practice. Participates in training deemed necessary by the University and school administration.Collaboration: Participates in committees, community service activities, and instructional updates as deemed necessary by the University and program administration.Schedule: Full-time 9-month non-tenure track special purpose appointment. Experience: Minimum three (3) years experience functioning as a field paramedic in a high-volume system.Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic.Preferred Qualifications: Education: Candidates with an earned Doctorate will receive preference.Experience: Experience in teaching college-level classes in traditional classroom and distance education formats is preferred. Experience with CAAHEP accreditation is highly desirable.Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Preferred qualifications: AHA and NAEMT instructor, FP-C or CCP -C certification, and Virginia EMS Education Coordinator (must obtain upon hire).
