Tyto Athene has an opening for an
SQL Database Design Engineer supporting the DoD, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cost Analysis and Program Evaluation, Joint Data Support, Tyto Data Acquisition Team (DAT). The successful candidate must be a Database Designer/Developer with SQL Server expertise who can analyze requirements, design, code, build, and manage a series of databases. The candidate must be capable of directly supporting the Tyto Data Acquisition Team which will include performing all Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) functions associated with the databases. The successful candidate must be a team player, detailed oriented, adaptable to evolving data standards/challenges, demonstrate flexibility in design, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills. Individual will work in a multi-matrixed team environment with other government, contractor analysts, and developers and must possess strong analytic, communication, and technical skills. Understanding of DoD and the Military Services is required.Responsibilities:- Design, build, and manage all Services’ military forces to include: units, personnel, aircraft, and equipment in a SQL environment on both classified and unclassified networks.
- Work with the Tyto Lead System Design Engineer and team on data positioning (including all ETL processes), data management, and data extraction.
- Work with Service analysts to deliver tailored datasets in Access for Current Year and Future Years supporting senior Defense officials.
- Process weekly Department of the Navy aviation readiness reporting.
- Update Civilian database twice a year.
- Process semi-annual Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) personnel data.
- Assist with quick turn taskers in SQL, Access, or Excel.
- Team player, demonstrating excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Security Clearance – Active DoD Secret.
- BA and 10 years of experience, or MA and 5 years of experience, or 14 years equivalent experience in Data Sciences, Computer Science, or other related fields, and 3 years of experience database development in an SQL environment.
- Proficiency in database development, design, and coding in a SQL Environment.
- Proficiency in data management including all processes associated with loading, positioning, and extracting data to support analytic efforts.
- Proficiency in importing or exporting SQL data in various formats, to include Access, Excel, Comma-Separated Value (CSV), fixed-length or character delimited text files.
- Ability to support Business Intelligence and cross platform analytic tools.
- Familiarity with 1) Planning, Programming, Budget, Execution (PPBE) process, 2) military forces, units, personnel, and equipment, and 3) defense organizations.
- Experience handling classified materials.
- Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio.
- Proficiency with Access.
- Proficiency with Excel.
- Knowledge of Qlik.
