What you'll be doing

As a Professional Services (PS) Senior Manager, you will be managing a team of professional services consultants and leading pre-sales, delivery, and business development within the Verizon Professional Services Wi-Fi, LAN, and Network Transformation practice. Your role will Pre- and Post-Sale business and client support. You will act as a thought leader in delivery functions and lead a team of highly technical and experienced Verizon Professional Services consultants focused on delivering professional services within the Verizon Professional services portfolio focused on consulting, Wi-Fi and network design, and deployment services for customers in all segments and verticals. You will fill the role as trusted advisor with key clients, as well as identifying new clients and new opportunities, including developing new professional service offerings. You will oversee new PS offering development and prepare final documentation for formal offerings roll-out. The role also includes preparing statements of work for complex engagements and reviews statements of work and final deliverables for Principals and Senior Consultants.

The PS Sr. Manager provides management oversight, leads service creation efforts within assigned portfolio, and delivers subject-matter-expert level guidance to the Verizon sales teams engaged with our largest business accounts. The Sr. Manager must understand how to identify business drivers and requirements and be comfortable engaging in strategic discussions with internal and external customers at the executive/ C-suite level. You provide global (multi-enterprise) product and service support by collaborating with direct reports, applicable Verizon product teams, Verizon support organizations and technology partners to influence technical direction, contribute to product roadmaps, and assist in resolving product technical issues and closing technical gaps from presales through delivery. The Senior Manager - PS works with PS peers as well as Verizon product, sales and external technology partners on continual process improvements to accelerate sales and delivery to meet Verizon contracted commitments. You must also ensure highly effective and mutually-rewarding customer relationships, and effectively communicate project and/or issue status to Verizon key stakeholders as well as customer management and executive levels.

To accomplish these requirements, you will manage and supervise a highly technical team of 6 - 8 or more design/delivery engineers and project engineers, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, compensation planning, performance appraisals, personal development and team planning efforts. The Sr. Manager - PS must be an action oriented, results driven performer with a history of achievement operating in a fast paced environment.
  • Provide management and oversight of the Intelligent Network Wi-Fi (Wireless LAN) delivery practice areas.
  • Lead a highly technical team of Network and System Engineers, as well as Project Managers responsible for all tasks (discovery through deployment) related to the delivery of core network solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into an executable Statement of Work, leveraging Third-Party vendors, contractors, as well as internal resources.
  • Provide leadership in design and execution of product agnostic professional service engagements.
  • Crafts customized development plans to ensure each team member focuses on training, improving skill sets and enhancing the value they deliver to the company.
  • Identifies opportunities for process efficiencies and leads effort to design and deliver automated solutions to reduce or eliminate manual methods.
  • Assigns resources to customer projects, tracks overall progress and ensures completion of projects, on-time and within budget.
  • Responsible for managing all personnel-related activities such as: recruitment, compensation planning, performance appraisals, personal development and team planning.
  • Ensure assigned work is within scope of responsibilities and complies with best practices and established descriptions.
  • Develops standardized service offerings, based on well-defined assumptions and clearly articulated deliverables, in order to maximize value obtained from presales scoping resources and scale the business.

What we're looking for

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience operating in a highly complex and dynamic environment.
  • Experience in designing and deploying Enterprise Solutions in a technical consulting environment. Proven experience leading projects through the entire project lifecycle.
  • Proven experience selling consulting engagements which includes estimating, scoping, and writing effective statements of work that clearly set expectations and limit risk.
  • Technical knowledge with network technologies - Wi-Fi wireless LAN, Wide Area Network, cellular 4G/5G, routing, SDN, SD-WAN, data center networks. (Aruba, Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Extreme Networks, Juniper/Mist).
Even better if you have:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a STEM focus (Science, Tech, Engineering or Math) in a technical discipline with strong Business background OR + years of military service within a network communications specialty.
  • MBA or advanced degree with a STEM focus.
  • Ten or more years of experience in technology (ies) related to the Programmable Infrastructure practice.
  • Ten or more years of experience in consulting/professional services, with client contact at senior levels and demonstrated business development skills.
  • Methodical and organized; able to manage multiple opportunities, projects, and partners concurrently.
  • Experience in technical project management for network infrastructure implementations, including project management for network physical layer 1 implementations.
  • Proven experience and ability to engage clients and manage relationships at the C-Level.
  • Communications and team building skills across multiple work locations.
  • Strong technical acumen to understand and solve complex network layer challenges both from a design and problem management perspective.
  • Strategic thinker with high degree of intellectual curiosity to provide insightful analysis and effective decisions.
  • Experience with telecommunications closets and network cabling. Implementation work in telecommunications closet.
  • Knowledge of cabling systems, cable and fiber patching, and rack and stack of network equipment.
  • Other IT project implementation experience.
  • Network information technology education, training, and/or certification.
  • Technical certifications such as: CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, JNCIE, CISSP, ACSA, ACMP, ACDX, ACCA, ACCP, CMNA / CMNO.
