Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to become an integral part of our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. As a Staff Accountant, you will be tasked with a variety of accounting duties. This includes, but is not limited to, processing and recording financial data, assisting with account inquiries, and maintaining general ledger accounts.Responsibilities: Provide support to the Accounting Department by performing specialized accounting tasks Process, record, update, and analyze financial data in compliance with established policies and procedures Assist with resident account inquiries, ensuring to address their concerns professionally Maintain and balance assigned general ledger accounts by performing monthly account reconciliations Prepare general ledger entries to ensure accurate reporting of financial information Develop and audit complex spreadsheets to analyze data and ensure information is accurately presented Maintain financial files and records to ensure availability of documentation and compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, monthly financials, annual audit, statistical reporting, and other special projects as directed Provide support during external audits by offering necessary documentation, schedules, and information on internal processes Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data Communicate any concerns or potential compliance issues to the supervisor in a timely manner.Requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is critical for data analysis and reporting tasks. Demonstrable experience in accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and budgeting. Familiarity with General Ledger tasks is essential, including maintaining and reviewing ledger accounts and their corresponding transactions. Experience in performing reconciliations of bank statements, ledger accounts, and financial statements is required. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is necessary. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a similar qualification would be advantageous. Knowledge of healthcare or NHS accounting principles and regulations would be beneficial. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail are needed for identifying discrepancies in financial data. Strong communication skills are necessary for collaborating with other departments and explaining complex financial information in a clear manner. Familiarity with accounting software and systems is essential. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly. Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
