Provides leadership, mentoring and coaching including advice and assistance on personal development and technical training of position's employees. Manages the budget for assigned region to ensure bid mileage is completed on time and within budget. Ensures time and material projects are managed to ensure compliance with all pertinent laws and guidelines and that resources are utilized in an efficient and effective manner. Serves as an advocate for safety and electric reliability by providing insight regarding proper work activities and right-of-way specifications. Demonstrates leadership and solid arboriculture knowledge. Develops external relationships to promote right-of-way improvements. Positions the organization to leverage rights-of-way as a competitive advantage to deliver stability and operational value, including the following:Interprets Dominion Energy's Vegetation Management and Reliability perspectives in response to inquiries from employees, customers, corporate leadership, as well as Local/State/Federal Agencies;Provides Forestry support in designated areas to include oversight, risk analysis, and performance modeling;Develops, tracks and modifies the financial strategy for Company region;Conducts field observations and provides feedback to Forestry Coordinators and contractors;Investigates tree-related outages to determine root cause;Develops and implements action plans to prevent future outages;Supports service restoration efforts during outage eventsRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceThe knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience required for entry into this job include the following:7+ years directly related experienceKnowledge of utility forestry techniques and applications;Job specific knowledge of agriculture, horticulture, dendrology, and wood preservation;Job specific knowledge of herbicide application and tree growth regulators (TGR);Job specific knowledge of landscape maintenance principles and distribution circuitry;Strong knowledge of the distribution system, including technical details of its operational practices;Demonstrated success in the Vegetation Management environment;Effective communicator with ability to maintain stakeholder interest based upon content of the message;Ability to influence a positive outcome with respect to escalated customer issues;Self-starter, business acumen, and strong reputation for integrity and ethics;Strong leadership skills;Other skills: effective verbal and written communication; good customer service; advanced financial acumen; effective organizational and project managementOther abilities: teaming, employee motivation, problem solving, priority setting, decision making, handling constantly changing and emerging priorities, scheduling and prioritizing work, balancing collaboration with a healthy competitive edge, to keep a team energized toward its long-term goals, to travel as needed.Education RequirementsDegree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:BachelorPreferred Disciplines: Biology, Environmental Science, ForestryOther disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above.Licenses, Certifications, or Quals DescriptionRequired: International Society of Arboriculture Arborist Certification; and Virginia, North Carolina, or other state's Herbicide Applicator's License (Note: If candidate possesses an Herbicide Applicator's License from a state other than Virginia or North Carolina, individual must obtain Virginia or North Carolina Herbicide Applicator's License within 90 days of starting in role.)Working ConditionsCold 51-75%Heat 51-75%Loud Noise 51-75%Office Work Environment Up to 25%Outdoors 51-75%Travel Up to 25%Energized Wires 51-75%Other Working ConditionsMust be able to travel as needed and, in certain cases, travel could significantly exceed 25%.Test DescriptionNo Testing RequiredExport ControlCertain positions at Dominion Energy may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law.
