Timmons Group is seeking a full time experienced Survey Crew Chief - SUE for our Survey Group located in our Ashburn, VA office.  The Survey Crew Chief - SUE assists the survey crew by locating and marking underground utilities for various projects.Essential duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Oversees the day to day Field Crew operations to provide SUE markings for survey projectsProvides underground utility flagging “designation” with proficiency utilizing electromagnet equipment and other geophysical meansDesignates all utility line types of conductive or non-conductive materials including: water, sewer, gas, electric, fiber optic, PVC, and all other underground facilities that would affect an excavation of a siteMarks utilities with flags and/or paint and produce a sketch of results for future use by the clientEstablishes and sets survey control and performs locations of utility designation markings using conventional survey equipment including robotic total stations and RTK GPS technologyOversees and trains individuals to operate total station, level, GPS and data collectors for use in the collection of field survey dataConducts daily maintenance and up-keep of instrumentsProvides clear and concise field notes including sketchesOversees maintenance of survey equipment, supplies and vehicleCandidate must be able to work in a team environment, and also be willing to work independently on occasionSkills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:High school diploma/GED and five (5) years of SUE designation and field survey experience is idealHas a clear understanding of ASCE 38-02 standards and Quality Levels and their applicationsExperience with Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors and GPS preferredMust be able to obtain and hold a federal security clearanceExperience with NCDOT transportation surveying a plusAbility to collect field data in an organized, neat, and professional manner for various survey projectsThe ability to compute, process and map field data will provide the right candidate opportunity and advancementAutoCAD experience a plus, but not necessaryA valid NC driver license and a good driving record requiredMust be willing to travel on occasion
