Job DescriptionMaxar is currently seeking a Linux System Administrator to join our team in Herndon, VA. In this role, you will be responsible to provide computer support services to users in all areas of the company, focusing on DoD-specific spaces within the established service level agreements, address various technical incidents and problems, work with various types of software, and continue to patch and maintain the Linux server environment. This role will also have some responsibilities working directly with the system engineers within the Windows Server and VMWare environments to install, administer, and maintain our core environment. Responsibilities:- Install and administer Linux Server machines (either physical or virtual, mainly Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
- Provide Linux System Administration for the servers, to include software/hardware configuration, security implementation, troubleshooting, and consultation.
- Maintain servers by performing regular patching, vulnerability remediation.
- Create GOLD images with appropriate OS hardening applied, leveraging the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Security Content Application Protocol (SCAP) scans.
- Assist the team as needed to share and gain knowledge of the environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen that is willing and qualified to obtain a US Government Security Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Ability to travel occasionally to CA, CO, MI, FL
- An active DoD Secret Collateral clearance or higher
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (i.e. CompTIA Security+ CE)
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Strong organization and time-managements skills
- A "Can-do" attitude
- Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance practices.
- Networking and Networking protocol (DHCP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, etc.) knowledge
- Cross-platform experience (i.e. two or more: Windows, Linux, Solaris, OSC, UNIX, IRIX, etc.)
- Virtual Platform experience (VMWare, HyperV)
