Our work depends on Systems Administrator joining our USPS team.HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Independently provides advance level technical interpretation and solutions in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures

Troubleshoots system hardware and software specific issues that are moderate to high complexity in scope

Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software

Performs advance software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages

Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels

Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions

Independently ensures data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations

Conducts advance hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines

Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users

Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience

Evaluates existing systems and assists with planning long-term strategies

May coach and review the work of less experienced professionals

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:Education:

Associate degree (required)

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, Information Technology or Engineering (preferred)

Required Experience:

5+ years of related work professional experience (Intermediate Level); 10+ years of related professional work experience (Senior Level)

3+ years' experience in DevOps Engineering, team management, and collaboration

2+ years in DevOps using test automation and CI/CD tools, containers, cloud infrastructure, and other modern technologies, CI/CD pipeline set up from scratch as DevOps lead

Required Technical Skills:

Experience with service-oriented architectures and microservices; deploying resilient, scalable, high-throughput systems

Experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD processes for enterprise SaaS and on-prem applications using tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, GitLab

Knowledge of IT infrastructure security protocols

Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible

Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as Python and Java and writing code and scripts

Hands-on experience in building and administering VMs and Containers using tools such as Docker / Kubernetes

Familiarity with logging and monitoring technologies

Ability to install and configure software, gather test-stage data, and perform de-bugging

Advanced knowledge of best practices related to data encryption and cybersecurity

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills

Strong networking knowledge and experience is highly desired

Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics

Developing and maintaining documentation on operational, configuration, or other procedures

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skill including exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to oversee and mentor junior software developers, as well as report to management

Must be able to work independently and self-directed, as well as, within a team

Experience working in a "separation of duties" environment and providing instructions/guidance to separate Systems Admins

Security Clearance Level:

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.
