This key leadership position is responsible for the leadership, management, and guidance to the Space Futures & Operations organization within the Space Enterprise Directorate and the Space Enterprise and Warfighting Division (SEWD). The role involves working closely with HQ USSF leadership and ensuring comprehensive Aerospace support. The role leads a team of domain experts that provide capability expertise, technical analysis, research, and modeling & simulation in direct support of the HQs organizations. The person in this position must work closely within the larger Space Enterprise Directorate to ensure seamless and unified support across the HQ USSF, and collaborates with the Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC), Space Operations Command, Space Training & Readiness Command, and other key Aerospace customers.This position is in both the Aerospace Crystal City facility and the Pentagon. This role is not compatible with teleworkWhat You'll Be Doing- Providing technical counsel to HQ USSF on all aspects of space from initial concept through conops, architecture, requirements, acquisition, test, and operations - leading an Aerospace team to seamlessly integrate with HQ USSF, and work with other USSF elements
- Providing technical assessments based upon analysis, data, strategic planning, and comprehensive risk identification to enable government decisions that are fully informed by risk and impact(s)
- Leading independent technical assessments as required
- Providing resource loaded plans to ensure Aerospace work products are properly scoped and implemented within budget
- Ensuring timely and quality reporting within Aerospace, to customers, including periodic written status updates, and other products as needed
- Being a leader of, and an individual contributor to, specific tasks
- Striving for unity of effort and coherency among any related Aerospace efforts
- Hiring and developing staff, including cultivating Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) and other reach-back from across the Corporation, to support current and future needs
- Managing a team and providing feedback on their performance
- Coordinating with other members of the SEWD leadership team
- Bachelor's degree in science, mathematics, or engineering subject area or equivalent experience in leading technical organizations
- Twelve or more years of dynamic professional experience applicable to the position
- Functional awareness/working knowledge of USSF missions, responsibilities, and operations
- Familiarity with USSF and DoD approaches to requirements, acquisitions, development and operational test, operations, and related analysis
- Proven capability to integrate diverse technical expertise to build technical products and/or conduct analytical tasks
- Demonstrated strategic approach to problem solving
- Demonstrated ability to professionally engage with all levels of customers and U.S. Government personnel in time critical situations
- Proven ability to establish, maintain, and evolve critical relationships with senior leaders
- Ability to deal with and resolve conflict, to lead change, and to work well with others
- Organizational leadership experience for a diverse team
- The position requires a current Top-Secret/SCI clearance and access, which is issued by the US Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
- The ability to obtain and maintain SAP/SAR accesses
- Ability to travel domestically (approximately 3-6 days per month, but will vary)
- Advanced engineering or technical degree
- Deep technical experience with one or more specific USSF capability area
- Proven creative technical and managerial problem solving under stressing conditions
- Experience and understanding of the USSF and DoD requirements, acquisitions, development and operational test, operations, and related analysis
- Experience within a Service HQs and/or OSD
- Experience with DoD end to end acquisition approaches
- Experience with strategic, operational, and/or tactical space operations
