Required travel up to 50% onboard an afloat platform. Both IT and non-IT related engineering and healthcare subject matter expertise is required to support the full Engineering lifecycle.What You'll Get to Do:- Serve as the Primary Assistant to the Shipboard Chief Information Officer and the Shipboard Information System Security Manager.
- Requires the implementation and ongoing maintenance of infrastructure required to surge manpower capacity by 96% (From a crew of 65 to 1,350) in less than 72 hours in support of disaster response operations, while maintaining integrity of protected information and auditing systems.
- Provide "Tier 3" support for embedded network systems onboard USNS COMFORT.
- Ensure all applicable information systems are being installed, maintained, and operated in accordance with applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides, Program of Record configurations, or Authority to Operate guidelines.
- Develop and maintain System Administrative (SA) guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Network Architecture diagrams.
- Perform routine hardware maintenance/troubleshooting and operating system upgrades for the MTF network systems.
- Perform customer support services with the onboard MTF network users.
- Provide initial training on MTF operations to new staff embarked.
- Harden the network IAW with IA standards/mandates.
- Install, load, maintain, upgrade, test, troubleshoot, and provide IA support for the MTF networks.
- Utilize ACAS for vulnerability scanning purposes.
- Manage the DISA HBSS 5.x systems on the NIPR and SIPR networks.
- Provided support to COMFORT MTF, COMDESRON 26, COMTASKFORCE 49, and MSC staff during USNS COMFORT's Continuing Promise deployments.
- Bachelor's Degree + 8 years of relevant experience, or 12 years without a degree.
- Active SECRET security clearance.
- Must possess current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (ex. Security+ CE)
- Basic understanding of IT fundamentals - hardware (servers, switches, routers, etc.), software, networks, databases, SAN storage, applications, Virtual machines
- Experience in the administration of Server 2016 (deploying and patching)
- Intermediate knowledge of networking
- Experience in the administration of:
- Microsoft Active Directory (create user accounts, manage groups/permissions/access)
- Microsoft SQL 2016 databases (log shipping, event management, cluster management)
- SCCM (reports, patching, updates)
- Microsoft Certificate Authorities (PKI)
- Virtualization (build and maintain Windows Server virtual machines)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and/or understanding of how domain systems communicate
- Demonstrate the ability to resolve issues independently with little or no supervision
- Experience in maintaining US Navy Board of Inspection and Survey, and DoD Inspector General independent audits of HIPAA compliance and classified material control.
- Ability to deploy on short notice for extended periods of undefined time in support of humanitarian disasters.
- Ability to assist on short notice or stay late for emergencies ( Power loss, Network Outages, System Crashes)
- Prior Navy IT experience recommended
- At least one of the following certifications:
- Microsoft MCP/MCSA/MCSE Certification
- Network+
- Previous experience with Afloat Naval POR Systems (NIAPS, HBSS, ACAS).
