(Hybrid) Sr. Tax AccountantJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Tax Accountant to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate tax requirements for our company and its affiliates. This role involves working closely with third-party service providers and proactively managing tax-related processes to mitigate risks.Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate tax requirements and mitigate tax risks for the company and its affiliates.

Perform tax research, identify critical tax risks, and communicate the impact of enacted changes in tax regulations.

Manage tax provisions, general ledger entries, reconciliations, unclaimed property and escheatment processes, and financial reporting disclosures.

Respond to tax-related inquiries and correspondence from tax authorities, external auditors, and internal departments.

Identify and implement tax-related process improvements to ensure accuracy and adequate documentation of all tax calculations, reports, and filings.

Monitor and update state nexus studies based on local regulations and business activities.

Handle other tax-related matters such as 1099s, Business, Professional and Occupational License tax, and property tax.

Assist in the preparation and completion of the quarterly Form 10-Q and annual 10-K filings with the SEC.

Complete account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end and quarter-end close processes.

Prepare board materials, review investor relations/rating agency communications, and support patronage capital processes, budgeting, and forecasting.

Essential Skills

4+ years of public/private US corporate tax experience.

4+ years of general ledger accounting experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end and quarter-end processes.

Experience with Oracle ERP (Fusion preferred).

Experience with US federal, state, and local tax compliance.

Knowledge of SOX compliance and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) reporting.

Experience with SEC reporting and financial statement preparation.

Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables.

Strong technical knowledge of tax and accounting principles and financial reporting disclosure requirements.

Advanced analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Ability to perform tax and accounting research and apply sound business judgment.

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to lead and communicate information effectively in response to inquiries from sr. management and auditors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with an emphasis in tax preferred.

CPA highly preferred.

Experience with CCH ProSystem tax preparation and compliance software preferred.

Form 990 experience preferred.

Work EnvironmentThis position offers a hybrid work environment with three days in the office per week. The office is located in Sterling, VA, with state-of-the-art facilities.
