Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group has partnered with a telecommunications company seeking a

Senior Installer to install telecom equipment and cabling at various locations/sites in VA, MD, DC, DE, and WV. This is a contract-to-hire position; if converted as a Lead, training, company computer, phone, vehicle, and a $1000 signing bonus are all a part of the package.

Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping, and pre-termination, including organizing, forming, dressing, and labeling cables to industry standards
  • Install CAT5, Enhanced CAT5, CAT6, and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution systems
  • Terminate, assemble, and install 8-pin modular connectors and coaxial connectors, light crimp connectors, and optical fiber ST and/or SC ceramic connectors
  • Test copper and fiber (multimode and single mode) cables to required certification parameters utilizing appropriate test equipment as required; diagnose and correct issues
  • Demolition and removal of abandoned cables
  • Conduct site inspections: able to read and follow blueprints/floor plans
  • Perform cable splices for copper and optical fiber (mechanical and fusion)
  • Perform/supervise work in retrofit and new construction environments, implement cut-overs
  • Identify active circuits

Qualifications/Background Profile:

  • 2-7 years of experience working in Central Office, Co-locations, and/or Headend environment, with references
  • Experience with DC Power equipment
  • Must have reliable transportation to drive to the client sites (per diem and partial mileage reimbursement provided when traveling)
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts (occasionally there will be some night work)
  • Must have your own tools
  • COVID-19 vaccine: must be fully vaccinated
