This is a unique opportunity to leverage your passion for gaming to create the Defense industries most photorealistic digital simulations for the U.S. Air Force.As an Unreal Programmer , you will ensure the technology, tools, and processes are in place to execute the technical vision of a project. You will support a cross functional team focused on photorealistic Military environments, multiplayer VR, virtual characters/avatars for both PC and VR. Support the Engineering Director and Unreal Programming Lead with integrating best practices and promoting design standards built on our current framework, all while exploring new methodologies to incorporate utilizing Unreal 5.X.This position requires forward thinking and passion to ensure quality of software deliverables and a continuous process improvement. We desire our Unreal Programmers to be a well-rounded “generalist” with varying levels of experience and strong understanding of code development fundamentals, knowledge of multiplayer game environments, procedural creation, scripts, optimization, and prototyping.Required Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree (experience may be considered in lieu of degree) and 3-5 years of direct experience with Unreal Engine in video game industry, architecture, defense contracting, or simulations. Online portfolio showcasing experience, projects, or interests is highly desired.
Ability to obtain security clearance (requires US citizenship).
Knowledge of Unreal Engine with heavy emphasis on Unreal Editor, Blueprint, and C development using Unreal.
Strong codebase maintenance experience.
Experience with the code development of game products that feature systemic, modular, and optimized code approach.
Knowledge of PC development pipelines, best practices, and software production structure.
Engage in code debugging and optimizing major systems in virtual simulations using Unreal Engine.
Ability to collaborate and drive best practices for real-time optimization, manage memory & performance, promoting efficient workflows, and offering innovative tech solutions to maintain quality while maximizing performance.
Experience facilitating the development or implementation of production techniques or best practices to automate development pipeline or processes.
Direct working experience utilizing source control methodologies of Perforce and task management workflows via JIRA.
Motivated, self-directed, personable, strong verbal communication skills.
Strong work ethic that strives for continuous process improvement and production efficiency.
Ability to work in a dynamic cross-functional environment in a 100% teleworking environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Developed Unreal code on at least one PC/VR game title or experience creating VR/simulation training as a defense contractor.
Pay Range:Pay Range $63,050.00 - $97,000.00 - $130,950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
