Your role in helping us shape the future: As a senior strategic leader, the Vice President, Operations & Engineering will manage a team responsible for identifying, developing, and refining customer services, solutions, and business models to enable success of IGC's business strategy. You will direct multiple teams handling customer solutions engineering, satellite capacity management, systems development & engineering, service delivery, IT operations & engineering, cybersecurity, industrial security, and facilities management. You will also partner with customers to ensure the highest level of service satisfaction, and to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional solutions. You will also lead the critical mission of providing world class 24x7 customer service through the IGC Secure Operations Center (ISOC). In addition, you will guide development of support systems and tools to make the company's operations and business functions more agile, efficient, and cost effective. Moreover, you will manage the company's internal R&D program and oversee activities at its Integration & Test facility.

  • Oversee execution of all engineering, operations, IT, security, and facilities management activities relative to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Exhibit superior leadership, collaboration, accountability, and resource utilization to advance Intelsat's strategic goals
  • Create and sustain a sense of urgency among all functional owners, and drive a high-performing, customer-oriented culture throughout the department
  • Drive development, execution, evaluation, and management of the systems, processes, and support infrastructure to ensure world-class service for all IGC customers
  • Integrate current and emerging technologies into the company's business and operations to achieve its strategic goals
  • Manage the company's unclassified & classified IT infrastructure, systems, and tools
  • Monitor and assess the efficiency of all customer support activities, evaluating service escalations and identifying opportunities to enhance the customer experience
  • Drive development of new services and products by identifying requirements, managing systems engineering, as well as testing and deploying new capabilities and features
  • Implement customer success strategies to increase satisfaction and long-term value
  • Manage partnerships with 3 rd party vendors and suppliers for service enhancements in technical areas with identified business needs
  • Provide technical resources to support the company's business development, sales, and program management activities
  • Direct IGC planning processes to feed requirements into Intelsat's multi-year satellite fleet design and deployment plans
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior leaders to enhance the value of our market, influence growth, and increase both near-term and long-term profitability
  • Be an ambassador of IGC at all times. Collaborate with stakeholders across all levels, and clearly articulate the Intelsat position to both internal & external audiences
  • Participate in meetings with customers and represent the company in technical panels, media interviews, policy reviews, and major vendor and partner discussions
  • Develop strategies, deploy best practices, and redesign workflows to optimize the department's performance
  • Lead, coach, and manage direct reports, ensuring each employee receives the guidance and professional development to succeed in their performance and career goals

You should definitely have:
  • US citizenship required
  • Master's degree in engineering, science, management, or similar field
  • At least 20 years of executive leadership experience. Expertise in SATCOM preferred. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
  • Ability to obtain a TS or TS/SCI clearance. Active clearance preferred
  • Experience leading engineering teams on USG development programs
  • Proven record of establishing and managing long term strategic growth initiatives
  • Knowledge of satellite and terrestrial communications solutions, particularly network hubs, modems, and remote terminals
  • Familiarity with commercial SATCOM systems integrators, equipment suppliers, and service providers
  • Strong vision, decision-making, organizational, and oral & written communication skills
  • Proven ability to coach & lead multi-function teams, while managing projects & budgets

It would be nice if you had:
  • Understanding of Intelsat's systems, networks, products, and satellite fleet
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and other bodies of law or policy affecting US Government contracts
  • Experience in building best-in-class customer service organizations
  • Experience in strategic planning and collaboration with executive, business development, sales, marketing, product development to achieve near & long-term business growth
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and to drive urgency & accountability in your team
