Our work depends on Senior Systems Engineer joining our team to support a Technology Refresh program aimed at replacing the existing IDS/NDSS infrastructure with the latest hardware/software components. The new program is called Integrated Mail Processing Support System (IMPSS). As part of this effort, USPS has a need for a VMWare engineer with experience in developing, administering, and managing the VMWare in a large Enterprise virtualization environment. This resource will be part of a team to develop, manage and administer a virtualization environment for IMPSS project.HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT- Administer and manage the VMWare virtualization environment at Merrifield, VA, and other Postal sites
- Plan, Design, Build, Test and Implement new VMware virtual environment.
- Provide system administration support to Windows, Linux, and other systems
- Provide Tier 2 system level support to VM's, physical servers and ESXi Host et.
- Interact with Vendor to perform system support functions
- Interface with the internal postal teams to provide support
- A minimum of 10 years work experience with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in the following:
- Installing and setting up ESXi cluster using either version 6.x or 7.x
- Managing and maintaining the ESXi environment using the vCenter 6.x or 7.x.
- Ability to write scripts using the VMWare CLI and PowerShell utilities to automate setup and management activities in the ESXI environment 6.x or 7.x.
- Managing large ESXi environment 6.x or 7.x using vCenter to:
- Create, clone, snapshot, maintain, backup and restore VMs
- Create and manage datastore and virtual networking
- Manage and maintain ESXi servers
- Managing and supporting Servers, storage, and network
- Experience in setting up Site Recovery Manager is desired
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Working experience with vRA or vCloud
- Experience with other hypervisors such as Hyper-V, VirtualBox etc.
- Any certification with VMWare ESXi management
- Ability to achieve a Public Trust clearance
- The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to be a U.S. citizen and to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.
