Yard Jockey

Job Title: Yard JockeyJob DescriptionAs a Yard Jockey, your primary responsibilities will include driving a flatbed throughout the facility yard to transport steel beams and assisting in prepping for incoming and outgoing loads. Initially, you will spend most of your time learning the placement of materials and the storage areas for steel and steel plates. As you progress, you'll take on additional responsibilities beyond yard jockey work, such as moving materials, backing in trailers, and waiting on materials. You'll also be expected to adhere to strict safety rules, including not walking between stacks and always being visible to other associates. Your role will also involve working with a trainer and a team, as communication and safety within the facility are crucial for success. You must be able to recall and remember various locations of stored products, document inventory via paper and Warehouse Management System (WMS), and have proficient computer skills. It's important that you can learn and retain information based on color, as our inventory system and coding are based on painted beam ends. Therefore, clear color vision and memorization of locations and color systems are essential. A good track record with no safety infractions in previous driving roles is required.Hard Skills

Work EnvironmentThe work environment for this position is both inside and outside, as steel is stored both in the building and in two separate yards onsite. Be prepared for hot conditions in the summer and cold conditions in the winter. This environment, surrounded by 200,000 square feet of steel beams, is not your standard manufacturing facility. It has a construction site feel to it, and requires wearing a hard hat, steel-toed boots, and safety vest.
