Find your future with us.The Applied Mathematics organization comprises the most concentrated group of mathematicians in Boeing. The team members lead and conduct research & development and provide consulting for business units on a wide variety of mathematical technologies. We are currently seeking an Applied Statistician to work in Puget Sound area in Tukwila or Everett, WA.This position will serve as a technical consulting and research statistician interpreting and formulating problems in mathematical or statistical terms. The position will develop solutions and work across all Boeing locations in the area of applied statistics. The tasks performed will be to develop solutions and statistical software to solve complex problems supporting our current research and consulting needs. This position will support the development of work with customers in commercial and defense and help craft research needs based on consulting work.The successful candidate will evaluate resources to solve mathematical and statistical problems, assist with statistics research, contributes to the development of research proposals, influences colleagues and customers to use mathematical tools and processes, and codes, tests and maintains statistical software.Position Responsibilities:

Develop statistical methods supporting enterprise research and consulting needs

Collaborate with other mathematicians and engineers to develop problem formulations

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. Note-The candidate selected for this position can anticipate reporting on-site 4 days with 1 day remote, per week.This position must meet export control compliance requirements. Experience in applied mathematics or statistics

Strong software programming skills and experience of programming languages such as R, Python, Java, C, or C+ Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Master's or PhD degree strongly preferred (A technical degree is defined as any four-year degree, or greater, in a mathematics, scientific or information technology field of study)

Excellent communication skills, the ability to adapt to changing environments and work statements

Work in multidisciplinary teams, a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical audiences and be a self-starter.

Experience managing several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations

Passion to develop statistical methods in research & development and apply statistics to develop industrial solutions

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.)Relocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
