Architectural salvage crew lead

Ballard Reuse, an architectural salvage and used building materials warehouse, is looking for a new FULL TIME member to lead our Salvage Crew! We are a small business that visits multiple sites each day throughout the Puget Sound area bringing cool things and quality used building materials back to our store in Ballard. We're seeking someone who is self-motivated and energetic.

Our mission is to keep as much out of the landfill as possible while catalyzing creative reuse in our city. Construction materials make up around 40% of America's yearly 250 Million tons of waste produced (crazy!) and we are doing what we can to shrink that number. We take pride in educating our community on ways to reuse, recycle and waste less. Our growing list of customers includes homeowners, contractors, business owners, artists and the occasional neighborhood celebrity!

As the salvage crew lead your job will include removing building materials, architectural components and all of the treasures found in houses, retail spaces or office buildings around Seattle and transporting them safely back to our store to be sold. This is a HANDS-ON leadership position which requires competency with tools, supervisory experience and good communication skills. Our optimal applicant would have some construction experience along with the desire to keep great materials out of the landfill. Organizational skills are necessary as you would be tracking materials salvaged and coordinating with the salvage manager and the store manager as well as communicating with contractors and homeowners on a daily basis.

Requirements:

Current WA State driver license with clean record

Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. on a regular basis

Basic hand tools, including cordless drill and the skills to use them safely

Construction knowledge

Strong work ethic

Mechanical aptitude

Good communication skills
