Assistant Controller

Description Brittany Bui with Robert Half is inviting applications for an Assistant Controller to be based in Vancouver, Washington. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing account receivable processes, and conducting regular audits within our team. As an Assistant Controller, you will also be expected to lead the month-end close process and assist in the preparation of financial statements.Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of the account receivable process, managing invoicing, collections, and resolving payment issues. Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure timely payments and resolve any billing discrepancies. Monitor account receivable aging and implement proactive measures to minimize overdue accounts. Lead the month-end close process, ensuring all journal entries are accurately recorded. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and investigate any discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy. Assist in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, providing variance analysis and commentary. Prepare and maintain Work In Progress schedules, ensuring accuracy in cost tracking and revenue recognition. Collaborate with project managers to gather and analyze project data, monitoring job costing and profitability. Ensure the general ledger is accurate, complete, and adheres to GAAP standards. Oversee routine accounting processes, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accruals. Assist with external audits and provide required documentation to support financial activities. Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations, enhance accuracy, and reduce month-end close time. Job Order: 03600-0013102730Requirements Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role as an Assistant Controller or in a financial leadership position Comprehensive understanding and proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Demonstrated experience in managing Accounting Functions Proficient in handling Accounts Receivable (AR) Experience in Auditing and Billing Functions Familiarity with WIP - Work In Progress Ability to handle Month End Close procedures Proven experience in Financial Statement Preparation Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required CPA or other relevant professional certifications are preferred Excellent analytical, decision-making, and strategic planning skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
