​Expeditors' Ground Network Services (GNS) and Transcon team is streamlining the way our freight moves across the globe. We build tools, technologies, and processes that allow our Customers, Agents and Shippers to manage freight movement in an accurate and timely fashion. We are looking for an Associate Java Developer. The ideal candidate will work on the Transportation Data Pipeline (TDP) that bridges multiple application's data models and maps the differences in business processes to allow our global system to function seamlessly. The developer understands business problems and opportunities and applies technical skills in the design, development and testing of data flows, applications, and systems. The developer is passionate about software development and interested in supporting the future of our development team(s.)

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to the planning, execution and support of deployments and releases
  • Follows and promotes best practice and standards
  • Participate in program activities such as PI planning, retrospectives, scrums, iteration reviews, backlog grooming, etc.
  • Provides on-call support
  • Participates in design & code reviews
  • Participates in application design and development activities

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to produce high quality code (e.g., testable/extensible, maintainable) for complex technical solutions
  • Communicates technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Understands the software development lifecycle (SDLC,) especially Agile techniques
  • Navigates ambiguity and mitigating risks
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Experience (academic or work related) using Java software development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent job-related experience

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Spring, Kafka, Kafka Stream and SQL
  • Experience with integration and data transformation in complicated systems
  • Exposure and interest in CI/CD, Containerization (e.g., Docker, and Kubernetes)
  • Experience with XML, Microservices, and Event Driven Architecture
  • Experience with IntelliJ IDE's, Git, Maven, Nexus
  • Experience with data integration and data transformation in complicated systems, e.g., mapping data between systems that have different business concepts and schemas
  • Knowledge of scaled agile methodologies, e.g, SAFe
  • Knowledge of technical and process improvements
  • Understanding of the transportation/global logistics industry

Additional Information

Position is full time (40 hours per week) Monday through Friday. We are a business professional attire company.
