The Boeing Company is seeking multiple Mid-level P-8A Software Test Engineers (Weapons) based out of Kent, Washington.

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) P-8 Poseidon program, which is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international partners, is currently seeking a Software Verification Engineer to join their team in Kent, WA. In this position, you will be responsible for verification of weapons integration onto an airborne platform. Recent contract awards have enabled team expansion and growth. This franchise program is anticipated to continue to be a stable program for the foreseeable future.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Designs, develops and executes verification procedures for Mission Systems, Simulation or Trainer Support software
  • Develops use cases for software requirements and verification
  • Develops and conducts integration and verification procedures for dry runs and formal qualification tests
  • Participates in peer reviews
  • Conducts data analysis to determine root cause of issues and provide corrections for delivered products
  • Supports system test, aircraft delivery, and ground and flight-based test events
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Software written in Java (preferred), C or C
  • Linux or Windows development environments
  • Object Oriented Design
  • Specific scripting languages: XML, Pearl, Python
  • Agile software development processes
  • Use case development
  • Protocols: Networking, Serial, Device I/O, Wireless Communication
  • Software Engineering or software test experience
  • Troubleshooting H/W and S/W issues in a complex environment

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
