Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Create automation to manage services and systems in AWS: commercial, FOSS-based and internally developed products and services
  • Create and develop solutions for monitoring and support required to provision, update and maintain complex, high-availability applications. Experience developing using industry-standard tools for Linux and AWS, including Puppet, python, and other orchestration tools within the AWS ecosystem.
  • Architect systems for security, scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and implement strategies for versioning of scripts, code, and automation
  • Function as liaison with development groups to highlight security, architecture and operational perspectives to the SDLC, and provide deliverables on schedule.
  • Support internal and external customers, corporate IT, and vendor IT is providing a high level of service and pushing projects to completion. This includes supporting upgrades and resolution of production problems in a timely manner for operational systems.
  • Collaborate with developers, vendors, and professional organizations to implement new systems and services using the latest tools
  • Occasionally work after hours and weekends as emergencies, deployments or on-call support requires
  • Willingness to be part of an on-call rotation
  • Perform as subject matter expert and cross-team coordinator for assigned products.
  • Actively participate in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards, complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of experience in software industry and operations in lieu of the bachelor’s degree education requirement
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience deploying and supporting monitoring solutions in co-located facilities, managed virtual, and in public and private clouds.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience supporting Linux based applications in hosted environments.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience supporting Linux operating systems and solutions using automation.
  • Minimum one (1) year deploying and managing systems in AWS
  • AWS Associate, or higher, certification desired.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or a Graduate technical degree
  • Demonstrated advanced experience with deployment, maintenance, monitoring, debugging and troubleshooting using Amazon Web Services (AWS) CLI and SDKs, AWS Code suite, Puppet or similar tools, and virtual machine environments in cloud systems
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux Server administration, CentOS and Red Hat Linux, and scripting or programming such as bash, Python or Ruby.
  • Demonstrated experience with automation and development related to the deployment and maintenance of Linux based servers and services. Including, but not limited to, networking within a cloud environment, implementing security measures within a least privileged security model, and supporting custom applications in a highly available 24/7 environment using common development and system administration tools such as CloudWatch, Ansible, GitLab (or code commit), CloudFormation, AWS CDK, and more.
  • Experience building and supporting both new and existing CI/CD pipelines within the AWS ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated experience with ELK
  • Experience with data formats like XML, YAML, JSON, REST APIs
  • Experience with load balancing, proxies, certificate management, networking and autoscaling
  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery methods for complex applications deployed in multiple regions within a cloud environment.
  • Knowledge of standard system administrator functions such as server buildouts, monitoring, patch/security updates, antivirus, backups, restores, asset management, 24X7 support, etc.

  • Creative problem-solving skills that require minimum supervisory prompting
