Responsibilities

The Cloud Architect directs and administers the design and implementation of cloud-based systems for an Integrated Eligibility and Enrollment Modernization Project. The Cloud Architect is a thought leader responsible for assuring proper technical implementation for our Cloud Architecture and the development stack automation. In this role, your responsibility is to recommend and develop cloud ready applications and architectures that support secure, highly scalable, high-performance, reliable, and maintainable applications.

The primary objectives of the Cloud Architect will be to oversee the project's cloud computing strategy in Azure. This includes cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, cloud management and monitoring, application architecture, and deployment in the cloud environment.

The Cloud Architect will require a strong background in business operations from a technology standpoint, a significant grounding in network security, in addition to a familiarity with end-user experience and related applications.

The Cloud Architect will drive the modernization of infrastructure services by designing Azure-cloud based infrastructure solutions leveraging automation and modern deployment methodologies. These solutions will be consumed by product teams to meet business goals and objectives.

The Cloud Architect will:
  • Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions
  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies
  • Ensuring cloud architecture supports performance, uptime, and scale requirements
  • Managing cloud services and tools in accordance with agency security guideline

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree including 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of computer science courses AND Seven (7) years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing, or programming computer systems applications or databases
  • Having hands-on experience maintaining large infrastructure in the cloud (Azure)
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Cloud technologies, preferably Azure
  • Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
  • Design of end-to-end architecture and design of applications and infrastructure and models for large applications to ensure they are cloud ready and cloud native
  • Proven ability to assess and recommend architectures, technologies, and vendors, with an understanding of multiple options for architectures
  • Familiar with different types of Cloud Models such as SaaS and PaaS
  • Working knowledge with microservice architecture and ability to analyze tradeoffs
  • Other key requirements are problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Solid experience with Java/C#/NodeJS/Python
  • Experience in Serverless technologies like Azure Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda, KNative, etc.
  • Experience with SQL and No-SQL Databases
  • Experience with Containerized Technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Experience as either as a server engineer, network engineer or database engineer
