Join us today and be a part of history!WRPS' Communications & Public Relations team is looking for a technology expert well-versed in preparing photo, video, and other content for a variety of mediums. This person excels at managing internet/intranet content, producing live virtual meetings, shooting, editing, and posting videos and photos for various audiences, in addition to providing a wide range of communication and public relations support.This person would conduct extensive research and arrange interviews with subject matter experts to write and/or produce electronic and written communication products.The Communications Specialist's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Under general supervision, conceptualizes, researches, develops, and writes/produces specific communications products for internal and external audiences.
Designs broad communications strategies tailored to specific organizations (maybe multiple/site programs/projects/events).
Conceptualizes, and after approval, executes photo and video projects for internal and external use.
Collaborates with other team members to produce and share photos and videos across multiple platforms.
Provides technical expertise, similar to television news production with multiple video and audio sources, to execute successful virtual meetings.
Maintains a strong understanding of the WRPS company and its structure, as well as a strong understanding of corporate affiliates, customers, and stakeholder roles and relationships.
Establishes and fosters positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Supports the internal and external clients at internal and external activities and events as assigned by the Communications & Public Relations Manager.
May work with senior management to develop, plan, write, edit, and disseminate information to drive employee engagement through executive and enterprise communications.
Develops wide array of communications vehicles to support a central theme or strategy – could almost be considered an intact marketing plan for a program/project/concept/event.
Recommends and maintains editorial policy and branding guidelines.
Supports management of social media by monitoring, posting content and analyzing.
Develops communication plans for the company's operational or structural changes to ensure that change is effectively managed.
Interviews source persons and researches subjects in order to obtain information and verify facts.
Leads and/or supports event-planning activities.
May work with graphic design personnel to review proofs for print pages, drafts of videos and web pages, and navigation. Assists with and provides input to layout design, materials design, creation, publication, and consultation for form/format of media products.
May be required to participate as a member of the Hanford Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Team.
Works with internal company contacts to understand requirements and produce cost-efficient graphic and video designs through available mediums.
Attains employee and/or public feedback and points of view on critical organizational issues and perceptions; communicates these perceptions accurately to upper management for response. Monitors and responds to employee feedback.
Coordinates with users to determine video objectives and translates facts and features of subject material into terms that best convey the intended meaning.
Utilizes current photo and graphic design technology and computer software packages to create and produce internal and external graphic design artwork.
Originates and prepares exhibits and displays. Ensures adherence to quality standards regarding appearance and content.
Develops interpretive themes that convey ideas and information.
May coordinate production and distribution of materials.
Required QualificationsGrade 18:Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field such as Journalism or Communications and eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.Grade 19:Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field such as Journalism or Communications and nine (9) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated communications experience and leadership (by title or position) in a commercial environment.
Experience working in a television news production environment

Proven ability to research, draft, and edit written, video, and web-based communication.
Basic knowledge of Associated Press style
