Data Collection Technician Ongoing Contract Onsite in Redmond, WA 98052

We are seeking a Data Collection Technician to join our AR/VR Product Data Operations team supporting Motion Capture research. Data Collection Technicians will help develop, build, maintain, and operate data capture systems alongside cross-functional teams, including but not limited to project managers, product engineers, and vendor partners. The position is full-time and will be onsite in Redmond, WA.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Document hardware and software procedures for new and existing motion capture labs, and train others on how to follow this documentation.
  • Conduct internal research studies as needed. This may include sourcing for participants, guiding them through study procedures, and collecting data per study design while maintaining privacy with confidential information.
  • Compose consistent reports, flagging identified trends and issues found throughout collections.
  • Become the daily driver of project success by providing continual and closed feedback loops for collection teams, both internal and external.
  • Assist in developing, managing, and implementing program data evaluations, tools, and systems to collect, analyze, and interpret data to ensure continuous learning and ongoing quality improvement efforts.
  • Troubleshoot Hardware and Software issues, and own communication of bugs, blockers, progress, and resolutions to relative internal and external parties.
  • Store, track, and upkeep equipment, ensuring proper condition on headset padding, strapping, etc, replacing degraded or damaged components, and verifying functionality.
  • Assist with Equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting, owning communication of blockers, progress, and resolutions to relative internal and external parties.
  • Maintain software installations, ensure that "Safe to Use" builds are vetted, and installed on lab machines, testing external software viability and communicating bugs/blockers.
  • Test experimental hardware and software builds to harden for production.
  • Diagnose and triage technical issues related to local machines and networks, including hardware and software issues and network connectivity problems.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in technology or behavioral science (i.e. human-computer interaction, psychology, statistics, cognitive science, information systems)
  • Self-motivated and able to manage workload independently.
  • Excellent people, interpersonal, and customer services skills.
  • Experience with personal computers; hardware builds and software installation.
  • Understanding of basic internal networks.
  • Understanding of command line tools.
  • Technical mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year experience in user research, data collection or related space.
  • Experience with Unreal and/or Unity.
  • Experience using command line tools.
  • A strong interest in AR/VR technology (i.e. games, software, hardware).
  • Experience diagnosing and triaging technical issues related to local machines and networks.
  • Experience with various types of motion capture systems and software, including setting up and troubleshooting issues.
  • Understanding of Cameras and Lenses: Setup, lighting, focus, etc.
