This position serves as a journey level DevOps Engineer, joining L&I on its Agile and DevOps path by providing support for L&I’s existing development and production applications and application environments as well as supporting and learning the Development Operations (DevOps) and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (Cl/CD) environment and processes, which includes a wide variety of highly complex technologies within L&I. This position is a member of the DevOps IT team of systems engineers and is essential to rapid deployment of quality application products designed and implemented by L&l Product and Service Teams. The incumbent is considered a resource for application promotions and building and maintaining L&l's Product Pipeline, which is the Source Code Repository, Software Build, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (Cl/CD) environment for hundreds of internally and externally developed business applications leveraging both on-premises Azure DevOps Server (ADO), Git, and the migration to cloud-based Azure DevOps Services This position conducts troubleshooting and problem resolution tasks, often requiring independent research and "out of the box" thinking and performs systems monitoring and troubleshooting of the agency's application development environment by using analytical skills and knowledge gained from experience. The incumbent is expected to think tactically, make daily work task decisions, set and establish priorities, manage conflict, determine solutions, and estimate time for work tasks regularly for themselves and others. The incumbent will work directly with team members, direct reports, contract staff, management, and multiple business partners. Some of what you will be doing:

  • Install, Administer and Manage All Agency Application Development Environments, including:
    • Planning, installation, automation, and management of the agency-wide application development and deployment infrastructure, without which many complex mission critical client and web application systems would fail. Other professional IT teams depend on this position to provide guidance on a wide variety of complex, application development and web server methodologies, systems administration principles, concepts and practices gained through extensive experience in specialized IT domains. In order to support the various systems within DevOpsIT, the incumbent will work with existing staff to familiarize themselves with the agencies applicationand DevOps environments and processes.
    • Provide support for application code drops and deployments.
    • Assisting staff with troubleshooting Azure DevOps (ADO) issues
    • Create, administer, and troubleshoot DevOps and Azure components, such as pipelines, boards, work items and repositories.
    • Create, administer and troubleshoot ADO projects: including user, group, core team, and project team access controls, project templates, etc.
    • Perform technical troubleshooting for DevOps and Continuous integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) related issues, such as builds, deployments and other automation-related issues
  • Technical support for application developers, IT Unit support teams, and WaTech as needed, including:
  • Perform research, analysis, support, troubleshooting, and brainstorming for technical issues over a wide variety of technologies, software, and systems.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related Information Technology field
AND
  • 4 years of IT professional experience working full-time in a professional IT workplace.
  • Qualifying experience includes but is not limited to
    • Production deployments
    • TFS DevOps
    • Application development
    • Maintaining a Windows based computing environment and experience as a Microsoft Windows system administrator and technician, (or providing the equivalent support services),
  • Must have experience and/or knowledge of the following standards and technologies:
    • Microsoft IIS web server configuration/set-up
    • PowerShell scripting
    • Source code control in Visual Studio/Azure DevOps/TFS
    • Cl/CD leveraging Azure DevOps
OR
  • Associate in Arts degree in Computer Science or related Information Technology field
AND
  • 6 years of IT professional experience working full-time in a professional IT workplace.
OR
  • 8 years of IT professional experience working full-time in a professional IT workplace.

Preferred
  • Microsoft Windows, code repositories, system and network administration, web application development, database and database connectivity, and resource connectivity technologies. Web services implementation and administration; server, workstation and application troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with client and web application development tools and languages and the ability to support the lifecycle from inception to delivery, as well as interacting with the application development teams to effectively apply systems engineering perspectives and process to software development, and to apply and monitor software configuration management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Information Services (IIS) 7.5 and newer, or other World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) web servers,
  • Network policy design, Active Directory, Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server or other Relational Databases.
  • Source/object control methods and systems such as Visual SourceSafe, Visual Studio Team System, JavaScript, HTML, XML, Visual Studio 2015/2017/2019.
  • Scripting with Windows PowerShell, Windows Script Host (WSH), other.
