DescriptionTHE ROLEESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Director Planning & Design will lead the interior design in their market. They will also manage the relationship with consultants and vendors needed to support our pre-planning, and design phases of our project lifecycles. They will also be responsible for managing vendor and consultant relationships for all division wide initiatives requiring interior design or other finish and furnishings related engagements. Specifically, this role and the team they lead will ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget and that deliverables outlined in the engagement are adequately met.Description of Interior Designer:Work with Planning and Desing leadership (Enterprise level) to confirm best practices and excellence in finishes, color palette, wayfinding, signage, art, and furnitureWork with the Puget Sound Planning and Design Directors/Managers to support ongoing capital projects and adherence to Providence best practices and expectations for the built environmentWork with Providence clinical leaders and Strategy to support ongoing feasibility studies and pricing efforts for adherence to our Providence best practices and expectations for future proposed work to accurately scope projects seeking fundingWork with our vendor partners to manage and maintain furniture options for capital projects and help individual Care Givers purchase needed furniture for replacement furniture, small moves, and ergonomic requestsManage the inventory, storage and redeployment of existing viable furniture, equipment, and artAssist the Foundation in smaller donor projects to ensure that expectations area met, and donors receive the care and attention needed to execute the vision for their financial giftCoordinate with the Puget Sound Facilities Construction team to support planning and design for small projects that need finish selection, signage, furniture, art, and wayfindingThis Director Planning & Design will be responsible for the pre-planning and design phases of all capital projects in their assigned division. This role will manage projects in their division from conception through design development and will then support the construction team from construction documents through occupancy. This will be a highly visible role that will work closely with other platforms within RESO, including construction, environmental stewardship, operations, and finance, along with Divisional Leadership. Specifically, this role will effectively partner with the Strategy & Business Development teams to plan for and realize the built environment needs to successfully advance the divisions strategic initiatives.Responsible for partnering with strategic planning teams to achieve strategic objectives involving the built environment, ensuring alignment with system priorities and supporting projects through key approval gateways through the design document phase.Manage long-range market and site-specific master planning efforts including management of the process in which plans are developed and maintained to ensure every market in the division has a current master plan that supports capital planningAccountable for providing continuous feedback to leadership and others regarding performance of materials and furnishings.Assimilates emerging conditions and trends in health care and applies it to planning and design efforts across the system division.Responsible for ensuring projects in their division adhere to the system's architectural and design standards to the greatest extent possible.Supports the resourcing efforts for planning and design projects including vendors and consultants.Supports Planning and Design leadership, executive sponsors, strategy leaders, operations, construction, and other key stakeholders to develop project scope in support of divisional and service area strategies.Supports the RFP process for planning and architectural contractors within the region.Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with authorities having jurisdiction at a global level.Reviews and elevates to the Senior Director Planning & Design architectural and design add services, planning/design scope change orders, and invoicing within scope of the signatory matrix for projects within the pre-planning through design document phases of the project lifecycle.Supports the Senior Director Planning & Design and the Construction team in ensuring Project Programs, Designs, Budgets, and Schedules are inclusive of all elements required for a complete project.Manages the presentation of design, estimate, and program updates to Senior Leadership as documents progress.Perform all duties in a manner that promotes team success and reflects the Providence Health & Services' Mission, philosophy, and Core Values.Manage and develop the Managers of Planning and Design in their market. This includes resourcing in response to the market needs, hiring, performance management, and development planning.QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Architecture, Business or Healthcare Administration; or equivalent educ/experience

Registered / licensed interior designer
At least 10 years in healthcare focused practice with practical experience in meeting the demands of healthcare clients
8 years in experience in architecture and design, a portion of which has been in the healthcare industry
6 years of management or applicable leadership experience
2 years of healthcare experience
2 years of HACI experience (only applicable if role supports markets in California)
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate teamwork with multidisciplinary groups
Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, interpersonal skills, and effective oral and written communication skills
Creative problem-solving skills; ability to negotiate solutions to complex problems to further the goals of the organization
Ability to negotiate solutions to complex problems within the organization, as well as with outside individuals and organizations
Extensive organizational and communication skills to facilitate information and maintain professional interactions
Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership on complex planning issues that have direct impact on the delivery of care for the both the acute care and satellite sites

Project management skills
Excellent reputation and knowledge of design and architecture firms and local jurisdiction having authority
