With therapies only in their infancy and BMS’s continued investment in our Cell Therapy capabilities, the growth potential of this science, your career, and the ability to help patients are incredible.PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITIONThe Cell Therapy Technology Development (CTD) organization at BMS is seeking a Director of Cell Therapy Technology Strategy to lead both internal and external technology development in the advancement of next generation cell and gene therapy products and processes. The Technology Strategy Director will actively shape and define the company’s cell and gene therapy technology future by driving development of innovative approaches to ensure sustainable success in this highly competitive area. Specifically, the Director will be responsible for generating and broadly communicating the overall technology strategic roadmap for the organization, setting process and analytical technology development priorities, managing the internal technology portfolio, establishing external technology development collaborations, and driving execution of external technology collaboration projects.This position reports to Bristol Myers Squibb’s Senior Director, Process Technology Development and works closely with Cell Therapy Franchise Leadership and Cell Therapy Technology Development Leadership to execute the business objectives of the organization. In addition, the Director represents the CTD organization to key internal partner organizations including Business Development, Research & Early Development, Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Science and Technology, Product Quality, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Compliance functions. The candidate is responsible for establishing strong working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders to advance highly visible clinical and commercial process development programs.The job may be based in Seattle, Washington, Warren, NJ or Devens, MA with up to 25% travel to internal and external partner organization locations.SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIESEstablish and broadly communicate atechnology development strategy for BMS cell andgene therapy products through leadership of the Technology Strategy Board(TSB) leveraging competitive intelligence, current and future product requirements, and technical and business objectivesof theBMS cell therapymanufacturing network.

Lead the establishmentofthe CTDNovel Technology Development Committee (NTDC)portfolioobjectivesand maintain ongoing communication to CTD Leadership on progress towards these objectives.

Collaborate with the BMS Business Development organizationto identify external technology development business opportunities andcoordinate due diligence assessments.

Oversee the execution of external collaboration projectsand facilitate the identification of newco-developmentprojects with strategic industrial and academic partners.

Propose and managean external technology development budget to facilitate advancement of the Technology Development Strategy.

Provide regular communications to technology development stakeholders, escalate issues and risks, and recommend risk mitigation strategies according to governance procedures.

Supervise the CTD Technology Strategy team in the execution of technology governance through the NTDC;facilitation of the NTDC and Technology Strategy Board meetings;provisionofdirection and guidance to technology project teams;support ofexternal opportunityidentification, assessment, and partnership establishment, and execution of collaboration management activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEPh.D in a scientific or engineering field with 10+ years of drug and/or technology development experience inexecution ofCMC tasks for biologic, cell and/or gene therapy products. B.S. in a scientific or engineering field with 15+ years of CMC experience. Experience in cell and gene therapydevelopment preferred.

Experience establishing and running technology development governance structures.

Proven record in the successful leadership of innovation and/or CMC development teams.

Demonstrated experience in preparing and executing complex strategic plans and balancing competing priorities.

Demonstrated experience in the use of strategic planning to advance technological objectives.

Experience in the development and maintenance of successful relationships with industrial and academic partners.
