33923BRRequisition ID:33923BRBusiness Unit:TSUJob Description:This position can be based in any of our Western Region (US) offices.Join our growing Transportation team in the West as a Technical Leader in our Roadway Transportation group! You will be an integral member of this team and contribute to CDM Smith's success by;-Driving day-to-day technical content coordination and ensuring high-quality delivery.-Defining consistent expectations as the technical content leader on transportation projects.-Establishing consistency and efficiency in project delivery across the organization.-Improving project quality management, technical disciplines integration, and Intellectual Property reuse, especially on multi-discipline design projects.-Improving on-budget/on-time delivery.-Decreasing the risk of claims and reducing project rework.-Signing and sealing engineering designs as necessary.-Performing site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.-Updating design requirements as necessary.-Collaborating with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs).-Meeting with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.-Attending conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.-Providing technical guidance and training to more junior staff and mentoring more junior staff and developing them for future growth within the discipline and firm.-Will supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.Job Title:Discipline Leader-Transportation DesignGroup:TSOCertification/License Requirements:Professional EngineerEmployment Type:RegularMinimum Qualifications:-Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.-Professional engineering (PE) license.-10 years of related experience.-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.-Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.Preferred Qualifications:-TxDOT, WSDOT, Caltrans, and/or NDOT experience.-Currently registered as a PE in any or all of the following states; CA, WA, TX, NV, or ability to obtain registration within 6-9 months.-Excellent technical writing with the ability to develop work plans and document technical discussions required-Successful multidiscipline team/task management or design lead experience.-Proficiency in Microsoft Office software. Experience with technical design software including Autodesk and Bentley platforms, including ProjectWise.-Complete understanding of technical project production and delivery methods.-Critical thinker with an understanding of transportation and/or systems concepts required.-Experience implementing NACTO guidance on projects preferred.-Experience in transit and/or urban mobility and active transportation projects preferred.EEO Statement:We attract the best people in the industry, supporting their efforts to learn and grow.
