Editor & Writer, Social Media Today

Social Media Today is looking for an Editor & Writer who can contribute to the reporting, writing and publishing operations of a daily digital publication and email newsletter for social media marketing professionals. The Editor & Writer will work closely with the editorial team to interview thought leaders and newsmakers; write profiles, case studies, trend pieces and other articles; establish a voice on key social media platforms, help edit content and produce our daily newsletter. You will assist in planning and executing big projects as well as cultivate relationships with key industry sources and experts.The best candidates are editors and writers with some experience covering business and/or social media marketing. They should have the ability to generate compelling ideas and pitches,build relationships with and interview important newsmakers, write and produce impactful stories, assist in planning and executive big projects and collaborate closely with their editorial team to publish a daily newsletter.This role reports to the Lead Editor. Core responsibilitiesGenerate and pitch story ideas for the publicationRegularly produce content, including interviews with industry experts, long form stories about important trends, and other forms of content as determined by the editorial teamHelp write, edit and proof copy for the daily newsletterHelp edit stories from other contributorsAssist with our publishing operations, including updating our website, sending our newsletter, tracking our analytics and managing our social media
