The Electrical Engineer designs and assists in overseeing manufacturing and testing of electrical controls systems and equipment. The Electrical Engineer works with Project Engineers to ensure they deliver quality designs on time and within budget.

The electrical engineer must understand standard required concepts, practices, procedures, safety standards and code compliance requirements necessary for the design of electrical systems. The Electrical Engineer provides technical guidance and assistance to less experienced engineers, technicians and production personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for creating product requirements by communicating with sales, project engineers and customers.
  • Develop designs & create necessary technical documentation for manufacturing of equipment such as bill of materials, detailed drawings, test plans and PLC/HMI programs, control systems & instrumentation specifications, system operating descriptions, etc.
  • Assist production by troubleshooting problems and monitoring equipment to ensure design requirements are met.
  • Validates system's capabilities and product quality by designing testing methods for finished product.
  • Responsible for technical support of electrical systems.
  • Assists Sales with assigned bid activities to ensure that the customer's requirements are fully understood, and that innovative and cost-effective solutions are proposed.
  • Consults with vendors to sources special equipment, material or devices. Prepares written specifications for equipment & materials and obtains quotes.
  • Develops or updates product documentation such as BOM, DWGS, DS/QA, manuals, engineering bulletins, ECN, etc.

  • Successful execution of projects defined by meeting design requirements, on time delivery of equipment and meeting approved budgets for materials and resources

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an electrical & controls engineer role
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Working knowledge of the latest edition of NEC codes
  • Familiar with the following industry standards: UL, CSA, NEMA, IEC, NFPA 70
  • Extensive experience in all design aspects inclusive of P&IDs, instrument ISA data sheets, instrument installation details, low voltage wiring, physical conduit routing and cable tray design, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics including motor control, and hazardous area wiring whether intrinsically safe or explosion proof
  • Experience with three phase power including development of single line diagrams, selection & specification of electrical equipment
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in various DCS & PLC systems
