Location: SeaTac, WA Description: Our client is currently seeking a Engineer - SW Development III

Job Description

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will develop the software framework for a system modeling and design tool that will enable spacecraft designers to evaluate and trade different fluid and chemical process technologies. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the project. You will apply skills in object-oriented software development to define and develop the user interface and back-end code infrastructure to tie together various fluid component models written by subject matter experts. You will work closely with model developers to define, develop, and document necessary class/object definitions, functions/methods, interfaces, templates, and derive and execute software requirements. You will use your background with fluid/physical system modeling and analysis to learn, understand, and engage in the design problems the team is tackling and you will help evolve the existing tools into a streamlined, user-friendly analysis capability that is expandable to future needs. You will help test and maintain the software tool and supporting documentation. This role will directly drive project success within Advanced Development Program's Human Spaceflight technology team.

Qualifications:

B.S. degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related field

Experienced in object-oriented software development

Strong software development skills, particularly in Matlab, or a similar scripted/interpreted language (e.g. Python, GNU Octave, etc.) with a working knowledge of MATLAB

Proficiency using Git-based tools for collaboration in code development

Working knowledge of software testing methods

Highly organized and capable of planning and working with technical peers across a variety of domains (e.g., guidance, control, aerodynamic, propulsion, mechanical, fluid, electrical, thermal)

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Must = or national, U.S. permanent resident (current holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

Knowledge of the Mathworks Matlab/Simulink modeling and code generation tool chains

Experience with UML modelling

Background in or familiarity with physics, engineering, fluids systems, or chemical processes

Experience planning and executing software prototyping projects

Experience developing and verifying physical or steady-state fluid flow models for the purpose of control design, component sizing, and system performance evaluation

Experience developing Graphical User Interfaces

Strong mathematics and analysis skills

Familiarity with application of optimization algorithms (gradient-based, heuristic, etc) and linear solvers

A basic understanding of spacecraft systems and human spaceflight
