Overview
University Cooperative School is seeking a Spanish language and culture teacher to join our collaborative teaching team for the 2024-25 school year. This is a part-time position.

Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to develop a Spanish language and culture curriculum to incorporate alongside and in conjunction with our current classroom curriculum. This specialist will work with our kindergarten through fifth grade students and this position is perfect for someone driven to lead the development of their own program. In addition to working part time during the school day, this position will also include after school classes with a Spanish language acquisition focus. Our educational approach is emergent and dynamic, and successful candidates should appreciate this approach and have the flexibility to enjoy variety in our curriculum. Flexibility will be a must. We are looking for candidates who are committed to creating a more equitable world and a classroom environment that celebrates, welcomes, and embraces diversity.
Responsibilities
Maintain a level of professionalism and act in a manner consistent with UCoop values and goals
Employ culturally responsive practices that align with the school’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Develop interactive lessons to engage students in the exploration of the Spanish language and culture
Collaborate with classroom teachers
Build relationships with students that enable positive support in their social and emotional growth
Qualifications
Professional experience in early childhood education (grade K-5 preferred)
Fluency in the Spanish language and lived experience with Latino/Hispanic culture
Ability to relate well with young children
Ability to create a fun and safe environment
Ability to communicate well with children, teachers and parents
Passion for working with children
Responsible, reliable, caring, patient, and conscientious
Flexible, sense of humor, creative, enthusiastic, and energetic
Loving and respectful approach to issues of conflict and problem solving
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently and skilled at taking initiative
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Compensation
$70 per hour for 10 hours per week
$70 per hour for after school classes
