Job Description
Scope of PositionEnsure timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while providing exceptional customer service within the Ocean Import Department.
Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccounting:
- Ensure accurate and timely client and Ocean Carrier payments
- Review freight invoices, arrange payment, and help resolve invoice disputes
- Screen freight release documents for compliance
- Monitor local freight release status at the port and follow up on any discrepancies
- Shipment management: Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow
Internal & External Customer Service:
- Interact with our customers in arranging their international shipments, meeting customer service standards
- Contribute to maintaining strong relationships with service providers (steamship lines, trucking companies, and others)
- Overseas communications, timely responses to emails and requests (internal and external)
Development and Compliance:
- Understand department process flow, constantly looking for areas of improved efficiency
- Meet KPI standards, as per the company procedures
- Meet compliance at all times to regulations. This includes internal policies and procedures such as Operational Process Standards (OPS) and external government regulations or customer’s policies / requirements
- Pursue personal development; Meet the minimum required 52 hours of Compliance and Development training per year
Qualifications
- Only local candidates will be considered
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 6 months to 1 year customer service experience and/or training preferred
- Understanding of ocean or customs documentation process a plus
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Pro-active, strong organizational skills
- Good computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Attention to Detail
- Fluent in English
