About the RoleCadence is a modern open source microservice orchestration service used at Uber and by many other major companies. It’s the backbone technology for more than 1000 services at Uber and powering billions of executions every month. It’s the modern way of creating reliable and scalable distributed systems. We are looking for a developer advocate to support other developers to increase developer efficiency by working with engineers across Uber to help them build Cadence-based services successfully, creating and improving resources to educate users and building a developer community of Cadence users. Minimum 2 days in office but the more time spent onsite will be beneficial as it'll provide a quicker ramp up. What the Candidate Will Do:Improve users’ experience with Cadence by answering their questions at StackOverflow, GitHub, Slack etc.Help debug user issuesEngage with internal and open source community to identify new features we should buildBuild tools to simplify Cadence onboarding and operationsCreate tutorials, samples, guidelines for deployment and operational best practices in public cloudCreate detailed documentation Basic Qualifications:4+ years of experience in engineering or developer education rolesGreat technical writing skillsKnowledge on setting up and debugging distributed systems on cloud (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure)Knowledge of technologies like Cassandra, MySQL, ElasticSearch, Kafka and programming languages like Go, Java, JavascriptExperience with building libraries and SDKsUnderstanding of distributed systems and a good understanding of its fundamentalsExcellent communication skills Preferred Qualifications:Experience with CadenceCoding skills with a high bar for quality and scalabilityFamiliarity with metrics collection systems like PrometheusExperience with Thrift, gRPC, protobufExperience with Kubernetes Uber is proud to be an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
