, WA / Full-time JobThe Role:As a Mechanical Project Engineer, your role would be the primary design engineer on capital improvement projects. Including and preparing contracted engineering activities. You will work closely with mill leadership and maintenance teams as the acting engineering technical lead. Creating and conducting technical presentations based on short- and long-term company plans. Your initial goals, in coordination with the Project Management team, will be to evaluate and document control status, develop and implement a Solid Works Vault and Mill site location mapping, leaning heavily on drawing/mapping experience. The individual in this position will report to the Corporate Project Manager and is responsible for a number of specific tasks but not limited to the outlined belowResponsibilities:
  • Create and maintain site maps for all locations, utilizing legacy project data including civil and mechanical layouts of all equipment on-site.
  • Collaborate with mill leadership and onsite project coordinators on new design concepts, and project development, quantifying and documenting scope of work, including drawings for proposed machine and or process upgrades.
  • Designated technical and mechanical design resource for the creation of concept projects and ongoing maintenance projects performed by in-house maintenance crews
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a saw mill environment preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with 5+ years field experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs
  • Proficiency in using Solidworks modeling, 2D & 3D CAD design software. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite beneficial and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) would be preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of employees, including production personnel, mill management and senior leaders.
Work EnvironmentThis role will operate in both a professional office, log yards and sawmill sites. Occasional weekend work may be required as projects or job duties demand. Some travel is expected for this position, as it will combine a mixture of in-office and fieldwork to support all four NW mills.
