Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Medical Unit Clerk located in Shelton, Washington. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be primarily responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of our patient records by ensuring they are up-to-date and accurately reflect patient histories. This role involves a strong element of data entry and requires familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, as well as a solid understanding of medical terminology and patient charting.Responsibilities: Receive and process notes from medical staff, ensuring they are accurately reflected in patient charts Scan and upload necessary patient history information to the appropriate records Conduct regular checks on patient charts to confirm they are up-to-date and complete, with all necessary signatures and progressive notes Participate in daily census activities, ensuring charts are in compliance for auditing purposes Identify deficiencies in patient charts and take the necessary steps to rectify them Organize disorganized charts and prepare them for daily audits Maintain a high level of confidentiality in line with the HIPAA Compliance - Patient Privacy Rule Use EHR systems, such as Allscripts, and Microsoft Excel to manage and update patient records Engage in regular communication with busy staff to ensure charts are kept up to compliance Perform other clerical duties as necessary to support the healthcare team.Requirements Must possess a minimum of one year experience as a Medical Records Clerk or similar role. Proficiency in Allscripts and EHR SYSTEM is required. Demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft Excel, including creating charts and graphs. Strong knowledge of Compliance and Confidentiality principles, particularly in a healthcare setting. Proven experience in Data Entry and management of Electronic Medical Records. Ability to perform Clerical Duties with attention to detail and accuracy. Familiarity with HIPAA Compliance and Patient Privacy Rule. Experience in handling Patient Charts and Scanning Documents. Knowledge of Audit Compliance within the healthcare sector. Proficiency in Medical Terminology and management of Patient Records is essential.
