As an Avionics System Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful integration of avionics systems, verification and validation of requirements, and ensuring strong certification skills are applied to our Airplane programs. Hands-on development work across a variety of avionics teams, platforms, and systems. Development will include logic and architecture.
Navigates technical ambiguity. Learns about new systems and architectures, and applies expertise to make decisions about the appropriate tools and processes to employ.
Define avionics system specifications. Participate in requirements management, traceability, and validation processes. Creates and executes detailed test plans to verify requirements are met.
Collaborates with multi-disciplinary design and leadership teams to integrate avionics systems seamlessly into aircraft platforms.
Scopes work and clearly communicates status, risks, and roadblocks. Partners with program and team management on risk assessments, project plans, and technical strategy.
Utilizes and applies Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to speed innovation, increase operating efficiencies and assist in development, integration and certification of complex systems.
Ensure avionics systems adhere to relevant regulations. Prepare necessary documentation, including compliance reports, test reports, and certification packages.
Lead the avionics system integration efforts for 777-8F/777-9, ensuring seamless integration of avionics systems into the aircraft architecture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, program management, and supply chain, to drive task completion and ensure alignment with multiple priorities.
Leverage your experience in new airplane development to contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge avionics systems.
Apply your expertise in development assurance to ensure the integrity, reliability, and safety of avionics systems throughout the development lifecycle.
Conduct lab testing and integration activities, validating the performance and functionality of avionics systems.
Utilize your exceptional people skills to bring teams together, foster collaboration, and solve complex issues that may arise during avionics system development.
Clearly communicate the status of avionics system development in various venues, including technical review boards and to airplane program leadership.
Serve as the link between airplane programs and our design center, ensuring effective coordination and alignment between the two entities.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. T his position is expected to be 4 days a week onsiteThis position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelors of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
3+ years of experience as a design engineer working with complex systems
3+ Years of experience with Avionics Integration, design, or testing.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of engineering experience
Experience as a designer, implementer, or user of avionics equipment (commercial or military)
Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate technical topics and perform engineering analysis and trade studies
Experience with testing, modeling, analysis or Simulation.
Familiarity with development assurance, ARP4754A, processes for development of complex aircraft systems
Self-starter with an exceptional focus on delivering quality results in a timely manner while challenging the status quo
Strong communication skills around complex, technical issues, and the ability to effectively present to myriad audiences
Solid knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies, with proficiency in tools such as CAMEO/DESE.
Strong certification skills, with a track record of successful certification of avionics systems.
Experience in new airplane development, including working with complex systems and managing design challenges.
Hands-on experience with lab testing and integration, including the use of test equipment and debugging tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proven track record of solving complex technical issues, demonstrating analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to clearly communicate the status of avionics system development to technical review boards, airplane program leadership, and other relevant stakeholders.
Strong ability to act as the link between airplane programs and the design center, facilitating effective communication and coordination.
Typical Education/ Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
