The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer located in Kent, Washington.

Position Responsibilities Include:
  • The individual should be goal-oriented and have a strong work ethic.
  • The ability to manage priorities and work in a team environment is essential.
  • The ability to develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation is necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hardware based fault isolation and resolution experience
  • Knowledge and experience with software design, analyses and software test and verification are preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems including system administration, shell scripting, virtualization, containers, and RPM packages
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in complex software and hardware problems
  • Ability to review a wide range of data and quickly determine how to eliminate variables to come to a root cause
  • Knowledge of Java and Ruby programming languages
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking and PXE setups
  • Exposure to real-time and embedded operating systems

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires ship as a condition of employment. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, software engineering, electrical engineering, certification, network security and/or cybersecurity

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in related engineering fields, such as systems or software engineering
  • Experience effectively working in a Linux/Unix environment

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
