Morning Care Coordinator

The Island School seeks a caring, responsible Morning Care Coordinator for the 2024-25 school year. The goal of this position is to effectively and warmly supervise a small group of multi-age students in free play prior to the start of the school day.

The Morning Care Coordinator, a part-time position reporting to the Head of School, offers a unique opportunity for an individual to provide an engaging and supportive start to the school day for a small group of students grades K-5. Students can arrive at school no earlier than 7:30am and then spend time reading, crafting and playing before the official start of the school day at 8:10am. The Island School seeks an individual passionate and committed to kids and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Supervise children in a multi-age setting

Organize the daily schedule of activities

Effectively check-in children each morning and maintain accurate attendance records

Establish rapport with students and develop an engaging and supportive classroom community

Ensure a safe classroom environment

Help maintain a clean and tidy classroom

Protect confidentiality for all student information

Timely and clear communication with administrative staff

Order supplies for the morning program

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Experience working with elementary-aged children preferably in a group setting.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Experience working effectively in a team environment.

A passion and dedication to nurturing and celebrating children.

Associates degree or Bachelor degree

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
