Job Title: Network Engineer

Department: Technology

Summary:The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, and configuration of all Enterprise network infrastructure components across multiple sites and their interaction with on premise or Cloud-based services. Conceptualizes, designs, optimizes, and oversees the implementation of data communications networks and their interaction with cloud-based infrastructure and services. Assists in other areas of business as it affects the Technology Group. The Network Engineer will contribute to the day-to-day research, engineering, and operational support tasks associated with the technology department’s network, software, hardware, and cloud systems.

  • Design, implement, and maintain production network infrastructure (both on premise and cloud-based).
  • Collaborate with other Technology team members to design and deploy cutting-edge new network solutions.
  • Research and evaluate latest trends in network technology and cloud solutions.
  • Improve efficiency by defining networking standards and topologies for Watermark, Client, and remote sites.
  • Respond to Tier 2+ tickets regarding network and service issues, correcting those problems whenever possible and ensuring resolution to problems when other assistance is required.
  • Document and cross-train team members on new projects
  • Create and maintain configuration and maintenance documentation including written reports, accurate component labeling and technical diagrams.
  • Configure and ship network equipment for new installations and network lifecycle refreshes.
  • Performance and capacity planning: audit, monitor, analyze and reconfigure network environments for performance improvements and future scalability.
  • Maintain inventory and asset management of all network related hardware and software.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance during non-peak (or non-business) hours.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network problems.
  • Develop disaster recovery and fault tolerance plans.
  • Travel to off-site offices and locations as required.
  • Participate in roadmap planning and project look aheads.
  • Assume additional duties as required.

Education and Experience:Education:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience with network design, implementation and support in a medium IP network of routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Extensive Knowledge of cloud infrastructure technologies (IaaS/SaaS/PaaS) and service providers (Azure/AWS/Google)
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco network solutions (routers, switches, telephony, ISE, firewalls and wireless).
  • Multi-protocol network engineering experience. Knowledge of LAN/WAN and wireless (802.11) internetworking principles and protocols including TCP/IP, VLAN, VXLAN, SD-WAN, Network Overlay/Underlay experience a plus
  • Knowledge of IP routing and routing protocols (OSPF/BGP preferred).
  • Experience with network security, Cisco ASA firewalls, and standard security monitoring tools and principles.
  • Experience in hardware provisioning, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of LAN/WAN and wireless networking, setting up servers, and workstations.
  • Working knowledge of Windows layered products including MS Exchange, DNS, and Active Directory
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite: Access, Excel, FrontPage, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills with the ability to provide clear, accurate, and attractive presentation of data. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and professionally furnish and obtain information from all departments. Ability to present and collect data that is time sensitive.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations with a high degree of accuracy. Good problem-solving/analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of general technology principles and practices, and general office procedures and equipment. Technical proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, electronic spreadsheets, graphical software, and word processing required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to speak effectively with individuals and to groups of internal and external customers and business partners.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is done in a typical open office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
  • Occasionally required to work in cold temperatures and moderate noise (network equipment centers).

Physical Demands:
  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; talk; hear; use hands/manual dexterity, and fingers to handle or touch/sense, and reach and stretch with hands and arms.
  • May be required to climb or balance, crouch, squat, kneel, stoop or crawl.

Travel Requirements:
  • Domestic and International travel may be required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain international travel documents such as a US passport or other equivalent documents.

Background Review/Interview:
  • Must be able to satisfy background check and related requirements.

Duration: Long-term (Structured as ongoing renewal on an annual contract)
