We are a specialized fast-paced observation unit of 13 adult observation bays dedicated to responding to the needs of the patient who requires ongoing diagnostic testing or observation prior to discharge or admission. Our staff provide compassionate high quality care that is respectful patient and family-centered safe and cost-efficient. Be a part of this newly formed inaugural team and be an owner in a new service provided at St. Michael!Our nurses are adept at working with fast paced changes and coordinating care since stays are typically less than 24-48 hours in this unit. Despite the rapid patient turnover nurses in this unit demonstrate their caring by quickly establishing a rapport with the patient and involving them in their own care. The staff experience the professional satisfaction that comes with making a difference every day for their patients. The patient population includes those experiencing chest pain stroke congestive heart failure exacerbation uncontrolled hypertension dehydration and post-procedural recovery for cardiac catheterization and short stay surgery.JOB SUMMARY:This job is responsible for providing a wide variety of professional nursing services which focus on the provision of quality patient care consistent with Franciscan Health System (FHS) standards/values applicable regulatory requirements and scope of practice for the nursing profession. Work also includes developing implementing and assessing the patient plan of care during time of stay in collaboration with physicians interdisciplinary teams and the patient/family. An incumbent is engaged in direct patient care including assessing planning coordinating evaluating and delegating work to members of the patient care team and for providing education and consultation with patients families physicians and other staff members in implementing appropriate nursing interventions for optimal patient care.QualificationsJob Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing BSN degree is preferred.

Minimum 6 months previous RN experience required.

One year of related work experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing.

Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.

ACLS Required within 6 months of employment

Specialty certification as appropriate to the assigned work unit is strongly preferred.
