DEPARTMENT MANAGER

NATURE AND SCOPE: Manage all aspects of the Repack operation and all of its functions and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with all departments company-wide to achieve and maintain packaging quality standards.
  • Have a good working knowledge of maintenance & operations of packaging and labeling equipment.
  • Responsible to ensure all food safety guidelines are adhered to and train employees in this area.
  • Coordinate staff and employee meetings to study and evaluate department operations.
  • Plan and prepare with the plant management a program to achieve well-defined goals that meet the needs of the company and our customers.
  • Encourage innovation and individualization of job-related activities to meet the various abilities, talents, needs, and interest of the staff and employees.
  • Provide opportunities for professional growth including assessment of food processing trends.
  • Improve the quality of food processing through continuous supervision.
  • Consult groups concerning various issues and/or needs arise.
  • Facilitate the professional growth of staff and employees by initiating, providing, and participating in regular staff meetings and conferences
  • Work with staff and employees to achieve a consistently high standard of performance.
  • Develop, carry out, and communicate a plan to all staff and employees for observing, conferring, and maintaining written records.
  • Submit written assessments/evaluations of staff and employees according to the adopted plan.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree. A combination of education and industry experience will also be considered.
  • Ability to lead and direct others to achieve departmental goals.
  • The ideal candidate will be a Preventative Controls Qualified Individual or has completed training on Preventative Controls for Human Food.
  • Knowledge of food processing methods and equipment used in the facility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and accurate record keeping.
  • Very good computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
