Work includes 1) scheduling patient appointments, 2) collecting, recording and distributing patient demographic and financial data, 3) gathering/validating insurance information and obtaining authorization for services, and 4) performing related administrative support duties.Work requires knowledge of insurance authorization/billing requirements and privacy/confidentiality practices, as well as knowledge of medical terminology and the patient intake process. An incumbent follows proper channels of communication in handling daily and routine problems and recognizing issues that need referral to management.
