Job Title : Quality Assurance Tech I

Estimated Start Date : 12 July 2022

Building Location : Remote Role

Duration : 3 Months Contract

Remote Possibility : Yes, the team is currently Remote

Preferred Location: Austin TX, Seattle WA, Dallas, TX (where other team members are)

Daily Schedule : 40 hrs/wk. M-F standard hours

JOB DESCRIPTION :
  • We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) for a contract position. The ideal candidate has great communication skills, can remove roadblocks, detail oriented, and has a knack for breaking websites. QAE's regularly work with Developers, Product Managers, and other Quality Engineers to ensure the proper operation of the production environment. During the development cycle, QAEs identify use cases, create test cases, execute tests, and report results.

PROJECTS:
  • Dotted Line Reporting - Include/Exclude, XBR - Page0 Metrics, Update help and support page
  • Permissions Project - mainly back end, enhancing the permissions to support different Corp systems for client which also includes the dotted line hierarchy
  • Landing Page - dashboard where they have multiple widgets, designing new widgets and dashboard for corp users within client
  • Inclusion exclusion filters- data reports, adding more flexibility of filters

MOTIVATORS FOR THE REQUEST :
  • We have PXT goal work planned for September 2022 for which we need additional resource. Currently one of our temp hire is leaving early in July due to maternity and one full time SE is going on long leave. With upcoming goal and reduced capacity, we urgently need to hire a new temp worker.

TYPICAL TASKS :
  • 10% meetings
  • 30-40% Collaborating
  • 40% individual work - execution or test case writing, performing the testing
  • 10% smaller tasks - or anything unplanned

Required Skills/Experience:
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience 2-4 years industry experience testing software, including website applications.
  • Experience with Selenium highly desired
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency working in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Experience with QA process and Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Quality assurance experience 1-2 years

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with HTML, JavaScript, Java, and SQL is desired, but not required.

DEGREES OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: n/a

  • Good understanding of designs in technical architectures
  • Test planning/test case experience

DISQUALIFIERS:
  • Not comfortable doing manual execution or doing sim test cases

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
  • Be able to onboard quickly and understand test cases given the overview and then perform the execution

BEST VS AVERAGE CANDIDATE:
  • Ave - able to perform execution but needs hand holding or constant clarifications
  • Ideal - understand the system and test case and be able to perform execution. Not only do they perform the execution, but they add value by coming up with ideas to include the test cases and be bold enough to speak up when something is not right or needs updating/improving
