ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) at Smashing Ideas, you will provide strategic design vision and leadership, and will help partners discover and achieve the most from their products. You will play a key role in interpreting business goals and customer needs in order to translate them into compelling, elegant and engaging experiences.You are a natural collaborator and an excellent communicator, able to develop and present design ideas in a team environment. You'll approach your work from a multidisciplinary, holistic perspective, applying your expertise across the user experience and interface design to define and design complete, end-to-end product solutions.

Experience Requirements
  • 5+ years of industry experience with a focus on digital product design, possessing solid capabilities in both user experience and user interface disciplines across a variety of platforms including web, mobile web and native apps (iOS and Android).

UX Requirements
  • Lead and create UX design solutions for projects across multiple platforms and screens. Much of our work is for mobile screens and responsive web, but also for proprietary screens (think IoT or kiosks).
  • Strategize and plan the overall human centered design approach and align execution.
  • Apply excellent UX know-how and experience to analyze user and content requirements, define user flow and information structure, and describe intended user experience through means such as storyboards, experience maps, app/site maps, interactive wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Gather design insights by leading and leveraging user research such as interviews, competitive audits, contextual inquiry, concept testing, and usability testing.
  • Lead sense-making activities to surface key insights and requirements, driving the most important actions and design strategies.
  • Lead workshops and work closely with Strategists to define outputs such as value propositions, user archetypes, experience maps, service blueprints, user flows, and wireframes.
  • Form product vision and help clients make tough, informed decisions to define MVP and product requirements.
  • Design interaction diagrams, flows, and digital experiences.
  • Excel at the prototyping process, moving quickly from whiteboarding to paper to digital and interactive. Can immediately identify the appropriate level of fidelity needed to execute a proof of concept.

UI Requirements
  • Highly skilled in Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design tools.
  • Constantly seeking new and innovative tools, skills, and methods.
  • Strong visual designer with expertise in web-based UI and interaction design.
  • Can create visual design systems for digital products, including typographic rules, visual hierarchy, color palettes, grid definitions, icons, implementation guides, interaction patterns, and components libraries.
  • Ability to apply and test WCAG and other accessibility guidelines to UI designs.
  • Understanding and experience in Design Justice - designing for diversity, equity and inclusion.

Collaboration Requirements
  • Be adaptable and flexibly apply your product design skills across a variety of diverse project types.
  • Work with design directors, project, and product managers to understand and prioritize design requirements.
  • Develop detailed design specs for production and handoff and work closely with the development team to guide the implementation of design specifications and business requirements.
  • Follow an Agile development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time.
  • Present well-rationalized solutions to clients, using excellent written and verbal communication and persuasion skills.
  • Help steward and strengthen client relationships and resolve client issues.
  • Help coach and mentor other design team members. Be an inspiration and a source of new ideas and shared learnings.

Nice-To-Have Skills
  • Master's-level human-centered design schooling is a strong plus and may offset some of the 5+ years industry experience required. Ability to help prepare estimates, proposals, and presentations as needed".
  • Designing for emerging product experiences including conversational user interfaces, AR/VR and interactive 3D environments is also a plus.
  • Motion design and animation skills
